OLD
TOWN (Staré
Město)
A visit to Prague's Old Town is a step into the past. Painted
medieval facades and gothic spires can be found on every cobbled
street, and this small section of town holds most of the city's
architectural masterpieces.
At the center of the old town is
the Old Town Square, an open pedestrian plaza surrounded on all
sides by beautiful buildings and magnificent churches. Sit
down at a cafe in the Old Town Square and enjoy the view, the hearty
food, and the delicious local brew.
ST. NICHOLAS' CHURCH
(Chrám
Svatého Mikuláše) Visit this grandiose church on the edge of
Old Town Square.
TYN
CHURCH
(Před
Týnem) The Gothic spires of the Tyn Church dominate the Old Town
Square. This church conjures up images of the Middle Ages and
truly must have been frightening to farmers and peasants visiting
the city.
OLD TOWN HALL
(Staroměstská
Radnice) This building is the centerpiece of Old Town
Square. It houses the famed Prague
Astronomical Clock (Orloj).
