Ludwigsburg
Castle is often referred to as the Versailles of Southern Germany.
Its baroque palaces and extensive grounds are one of the highlights
of the German state of Baden-Württemburg.
The palace and grounds
conjure up visions of an 18th Century royal capital. They date
to 1704 when Duke Eberhard Ludwig of Württemburg
commissioned its construction.
The Ludwigsburg
complex consist not only of the main palace and grounds, but also of
Schloss Favorite and the
Favorite Park.
During the fall, the Ludwigsburg grounds are home to a
pumpkin festival, featuring
pumpkin themed food and pumpkin art.
Visiting times Monday
to Friday run from 9am-12pm and 1pm-5pm March through November, and
10:30am-11:45am and 1:30pm-3:00pm during the winter. On
Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, the palace is open 10:30am-11:30am
and 1pm-4pm.
