OLYMPIC RING (Anella Olímpica) is
the 1992 Summer Olympic Complex located on Montjuïc Mountain,
which overlooks the city. The Olympic Ring lies just to the
south of the city and skirts Barcelona Harbor. The main
features of the Olympic Ring are the 70,000 seat Olympic Stadium,
where track and field events took place, the 12,000 seat Palau Sant
Jordi, home to the gymnastics events, and the distinctive
Communications Antenna, which is a Barcelona landmark.
Just below the Olympic Ring lies the Plaça
D'Espanya, one of Barcelona's main squares and home to the Palau
Nacional, a large art and history museum.
The Olympic Stadium is open Monday through Friday 10am-1pm and
4pm-6pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am-2pm, from October to March; Monday
through Friday, 10am-2pm and 4pm-7pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am-2pm,
from April to June; Monday through Friday 10am-2pm, 4pm-8pm,
Saturday and Sunday 10am-2pm.
