CATHEDRAL (Catedral)
is the highlight of the
Barcelona's Old City. The
grandiose structure with its many side chapels, has somehow been
squeezed into the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter. The
church is flanked by walls built by the Romans 1000 years before its
construction. The
cathedral was begun in the 13th Century and finished in the 15th
Century. More additions, including its facade, were made in
the 19th Century. Today there are 29 side chapels within the
cathedral, and it's cloister holds a garden with a pond and geese.
Barcelona's Cathedral is open Monday to Friday, 8am-1:30pm and
4pm-7:30pm; Saturdays and Sundays 10am-1pm. The Cathedral also
houses a museum, which is open Monday to Friday 10am-1pm and
4pm-6:3-pm; Saturdays and Sundays 10am-1pm.
