Sean's
Bar is a pub in the Irish town of Athlone in central Ireland.
Although many pubs stake a claim to be the "Oldest Pub in Ireland,"
Sean's Bar is in fact the oldest as documented by the Guinness Book
of World Records. This pub was established in 900 AD, at which
time its name was Luain's Inn.
Today, Sean's Bar sits on Athlone's Main Street, on the West Bank of
the River Shannon. The bar features live music and an eclectic
assortment of memorabilia adorn its walls. The narrow pub
reaches back through the building to a back sitting room and an open
beer garden behind the building.
Sean's Bar is a wonderful little Irish Pub and a great place to stop
by for a pint and to chat with locals and tourists alike.
