ARCHBISHOP'S
PALACE (Residenz) lies in the Residenzplatz, which is a landmark
in an of itself. The plaza boasts the largest fountain in
Northern Europe.
The Residenz itself was built in the 17th Century and was decorated
lavishly in the Baroque style. A visit to the Salzburg
Residenz will leave visitors dazzled by the magnificence of the
ornately decorated rooms.
In addition to the ornate chambers and hallways, the Residenz also
houses an art gallery on its second floor.
The Salzburg Residenz is open daily from 10am-5pm, but is closed for
two weeks around Easter.
The Art Gallery within the Residenz is open daily from 10am-5pm
April to September, and Tuesdays-Thursdays, 10am-5pm, from October
to March. The gallery is closed for 6 weeks around Easter.
